On Tuesday 12th March we where given a very exciting opportunity to visit Antrim Civic Centre, where we had light refreshments and were given a personal tour of the Civic Centre. We got to learn a bit about the history of the building and why the 2 councils merged, We had also got to meet and question the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council (Mark Cooper) alongside some of our local Councillors ( Cllr Roisin Lynch, Cllr Paul Dunlop and Cllr Neil Kelly) Our young people attending our Asdan course had been learning about who made the big decisions in council, from the areas we live in and how those decisions are made, Our Young people had time to prepare questions during our Asdan sessions and where able to deliver these challenging questions to our local elected representatives in our council, We had such a brilliant night and would like to thank them all for their time.
